Belarusian tennis player Aryna Sabalenka shared her emotions after winning the Australian Open. In the final, she defeated Qinwen Zheng (China) by 2-0 (6:3, 6:2).
“Congratulations to Qinwen Zheng on an amazing tournament. I know it’s hard to lose in the final, but you’re an amazing competitor and you’re so young. You will have many finals and I am sure you will win. Congratulations to you and your team. Thanks to the organizers of the tournament, to everyone who helped me during these two weeks. I couldn’t even imagine that I would lift this trophy again – the feeling is incredible, I have no words”, said Aryna Sabalenka at the ceremony.
The world number 2 also addressed to her team. “Team! Hey! Guys, I stressed you out a bit after the final in Brisbane. I did a little better this time. Thanks for always being there for me no matter what. I wouldn’t have been able to achieve so much in this sport without you. Thank you so much for all you do. But you wouldn’t be as good without me either! Accept this fact. I’ve never mentioned family in victory speeches before, but I really have to thank them so much for everything they’ve done. If I continue in English, they won’t understand? Well, I hope they get the message. I love it very much, it is my main motivation. Everything I do, I do it only for you. I love you and miss you so much. I thank the fans for their support, I love playing in front of you”, said Aryna Sabalenka.
The 25-year-old Belarusian player became the first tennis player to defend a title at the Australian Open since her compatriot Victoria Azarenka (2012, 2013).
Aryna Sabalenka is already a two-time Grand Slam champion. She also has 15 career titles.
