Aryna Sabalenka ended the dream of Mirra Andreeva at the WTA 1000 Madrid Open

The second-seeded Aryna Sabalenka (Belarus) stopped the impetus of the Russian teenage tennis sensation Mirra Andreeva at the WTA 1000 Madrid Open, defeating her by 2-0 (6:3, 6:1) in 73 minutes.

The Belarusian tennis player did not face much difficulty in the match, breaking her opponent 3 times in the first set and two times in the second set which proved to be enough for the victory.

Thus, Aryna Sabalenka qualified for the quarter-finals of the clay tennis tournament, where will face Mayar Sherif (Egypt), which brought the surprise of the day, eliminating Elise Mertens by 2-1 (6:4, 0:6, 6:4).

Irina-Camelia Begu (Romania) defeated Liudmila Samsonova (Russia) by 2-0 (6:4, 6:4), and in the quarter-finals of the WTA 1000 Madrid Open will face the 9th-seeded Maria Sakkari (Greece), who eliminated Paula Badosa (Spain) by 2-0 (6:4, 6:4).

Veronika Kudermetova (Russia) also advanced to the next round after defeating her compatriot Daria Kasatkina by 2-1 (7:5, 1:6, 7:6), while Petra Martic (Croatia) won her match versus Barbora Krejcikova (Czech Republic) by 2-0 (6:3, 7:6).
