Arsenal WFC overcame a goal deficit in the half time against Aston Villa WFC and scored twice in the added time of the match to win by 2-1 in a match from the third round of the England Women’s Super League.
Mayumi Pacheco gave a lead to Aston Villa WFC in the 25th minute after an assistance by Lucy Staniforth. Although Arsenal WFC were the most active team on the half time the result remained 0-1. In the second half, the pressure by the hosts increased but the great saves of Aston Villa’s goalkeeper Daphne van Domselaar and the blocked shots by the team’s defense stopped the impetus of Arsenal WFC. Brighton & Hove Albion WFC lost at home to Tottenham Hotspur Women by 1-3. the Norwegian forward Elisabeth Terland gave a lead to the hosts in the 8th minute, but Martha Thomas equalized in the 3rd minute of the added time of the first half. Thus, the first half ended 1-1. Grace Clinton gave a lead to Tottenham Hotspur Women in the 65th minute and Ria Percival formed the final result in the 4th minute of the stoppage time.
Liverpool Women lost at home to Everton Women by 0-1. Megan Finnigan scored the only goal in the match in the 31st minute.
Manchester United WFC and Leicester City WFC made a 1-1 draw after Aileen Whelan gave a lead to the visitors in the 60th minute, but Maya Le Tissier equalized seven minutes later.
Earlier, the reigning champion Chelsea Women defeated West Ham United Women by 2-0 with the goals of Samantha Kerr (36′) and Erin Cuthbert (90′).
