Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion Antonella Palmisano will be in Italy’s team for the European Race Walking Team Championships in Podebradi (Czech Republic) on May 21st.
For Antonella Palmisano, this will be the first major race since winning Olympic gold in the 20km race walk in Tokyo. The 31-year-old Italian has competed just once since that triumph as she deals with illness and injury. She will try to defend her title in Podebradi.
Antonella Palmisano is an Italian racewalker, 3rd at the 2017 World Championships, 4th at the Rio 2016 Olympics and 5th at the 2015 World Championships in the 20km race walk and 1st in the same event at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
She also won the 2021 European Race Walking Team Championships and 2017 European Race Walking Cup in Podebradi.
Antonella Palmisano won 9 national championships at senior level, including Italian Athletics Championships in 10km walk road in 2014, 2018, 2020, and in 20km walk road in 2014. She also is the Italian Indoor Athletics champion in 3,000m walk in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2018, and 2019.
