Anna Swenn-Larsson and Wendy Holdener shared victory in the women’s Alpine Skiing World Cup slalom in Killington

Anna Swenn-Larsson and Wendy Holdener shared victory in the women’s slalom at the US Winter Center Killington, the start of the Alpine Skiing World Cup.

The 31-year-old Swedish skier Anna Swenn-Larsson was fifth after the first run, but in the second she drove excellently and surprisingly took her first victory in an individual start for the World Cup, which she shared with the Swiss Wendy Holdener, who gave an equal time to that of Anna Swenn-Larsson from the two races – 1:42.97 minutes.

The victory also brought a huge relief to Wendy Holdener, who finally got on the top step of the slalom ladder after 30 podiums in the discipline.

The American skier Mikaela Shiffrin led after the first run, but made a mistake in the second and finished only fifth in the final standings, 0.59 seconds behind the winners. The American got off to a great start to the season with two slalom wins last weekend in Levi, but has now failed in Killington, where she had won five in a row prior to that start.

Austrian Katharina Truppe finished third, 0.22 seconds behind the winners.

Another of the favorites – Petra Vlhova from Slovakia, remained fourth with a lag of 0.44 seconds from Anna Swenn-Larsson and Wendy Holdener.

Mikaela Shiffrin leads the slalom standings with 245 points, followed by Wendy Holdener with 225 points.

Mikaela Shiffrin is also the leader in the general standings for the World Cup with 265 points, followed by Wendy Holdener with 240 and Petra Vlhova with 220 points.
