Anna Bondar advanced to the quarter-finals of the WTA 250 Iasi Open 2024

The 8th-seeded Anna Bondar (Romania) defeated Marina Bassols (Spain) by 2-0 (7:5, 6:4) to advance to the quarter-finals of the WTA 250 Iasi Open 2024 clay tennis tournament. The Romanian tennis player needed 2:13 hours to eliminate her Spanish opponent in a match of many turnovers and breaks.

The first set started perfectly for Marina Bassols who took the lead by 2:0 after a break, but Anna Bondar broke her serve and equalized to 2:2. The second set started with a break for the Romanian tennis player, but Marina Bassols turned over after two breaks and led by 3:1. Anna Bondar succeeded to equalize to 3:3 and after another late break closed the set at 6:4 to advance to the quarter-finals of the tournament, where will face the winner between Olga Danilovic (Serbia) and Anca Alexia Todoni (Romania).

In the other matches from the day, Selena Janicijevic (France) eliminated Miriam Bianca Bulgaru (Romania) after 2-0 (6:2, 7:6) and in the quarter-finals will face Chloe Paquet (France), who defeated Simona Waltert (Switzerland) by 2-0 (6:1, 7:5).
