Anita Wlodarczyk is back on her hammer throw winning streak in Banska Bystrica

Three-time Olympic, four-time world and four-time European hammer throw champion Anita Wlodarczyk is back on her winning streak. The 37-year-old Polish athlete, who last year had an accident while catching a thief and was operated on, won a tournament in Banska Bystrica with an achievement of 74.81m. The world record holder in the discipline, who turns 38 on August 8, added more than three meters to her best result of the season.

She also covered the regulations for the World Championships in Budapest next month and the Olympic Games in Paris next year.

“After last year’s health problems, I am happy to see that I am slowly improving. I am very glad to be back. I really enjoyed in Banska Bistrica”, said Anita Wlodarczyk after the competition.

Anita Wlodarczyk is a Polish hammer thrower. She is the 2012, 2016 and 2020 Olympic champion, and the first woman in history to throw the hammer over 80m. She currently holds the women’s world record of 82.98m. She is considered the greatest women’s hammer thrower of all time. She was voted the Polish Sports Personality of the Year in 2016 and received the Commander’s Cross with Star of the Order of Polonia Restituta in 2021 for her outstanding achievements in sport.
