Angelina Topic topped the season rankings for the girls’ under-20 high jump

Serbia’s new junior athletics star, European women’s medalist Angelina Topic topped the world rankings for the girls’ under-20 high jump season. The 16-year-old Serbian recorded 1.94m in a competition in Belgrade and set a new national record for her country at that age.

The Bulgarian Irene Sarboyukova already shares the fourth place in the world rankings for the season among girls with her personal achievement of 1.85m.

Earlier in the season, Angelina Topic led the world rankings for the year in the long jump as well after clearing 6.50m again in Belgrade. Second there is last year’s world maiden champion Plamena Mitkova, who has only one start in her crown event so far this season, clearing 6.33m.

Angelina Topic is a Serbian athlete specializing in the high jump. She won the bronze medal at the 2022 European Athletics Championships, becoming the youngest medallist of the entire championships. The same year, Angelina Topic earned also bronze at the World U20 Championships.
