The 26-year-old Anett Kontaveit, who is ranked 9th in the World Rankings, needed three hours to win the tournament. The first set lasted 49 minutes, and the next two lasted over an hour each.

The first set started brilliantly for the Estonian, who tried for 4:2, then took the lead with 5:2 in her pass. From that moment until the end of the part, however, Maria Sakkari won five consecutive games and took a 7:5 lead.

Maria Sakkari was heading for victory after a 3:1 lead in the second set, but a break in the sixth game tied the score and sent the part into a tiebreak. There, Anett Kontaveit won the second chance.

And in the third set, Maria Sakkari took the lead, scoring for 2:0 after a hard-earned first pass in the match. The quarterfinalist of the Australian Open in 2020 made two breaks, turned 6:5 in her favor, and scored her first point of the match.
