Andrea Petkovic will work as a mentor to young German tennis talents

Former world’s top 10 tennis player Andrea Petkovic will work as a mentor to young tennis talents, the German federation announced.

The headquarters specified that Andrea Petkovic should advise the young tennis players, train with them and travel to their tournaments, evaluate their potential, and help develop training programs.

“I know how difficult and exhausting the road to the top is and what obstacles you have to overcome”, said Andrea Petkovic in a federation statement. “After 16 years as a professional, I want to support young players with what I really have a lot of – experience. I’m looking forward to it because I’m passionate about tennis and I want to help others reach the top”, added she.

The 35-year-old Andrea Petkovic ended her sports career last year. She has won 8 titles, played in the semifinals of Roland Garros and reached the world’s No 9 in the WTA rankings.

Andrea Petkovic was the first German female player ranked inside the Top 10 since Steffi Graf in 1999. In 2011, when she reached her career-highest ranking, she played in the quarterfinals of three Grand Slam tournaments as well as a Masters’ final at China Open.
