Costa Rican women athletes dominated the 100m hurdles final at the Santiago 19th Pan American Games. Andrea Carolina Vargas earned the gold in the event in 13.06 sec, while her compatriot Greisys Lazara Roble finished second only 0.03 sec behind the winner. The bronze went to American hurdler Alaysha Alexzandria Johnson.
In the women’s 400m final, the gold went to Martina Weil (Chile), who took the course in 51.48 sec. The silver remained for Nicole Dayci Caicedo (Ecuador), lagging 0.28 sec behind the winner, while the bronze was for Evelis JazminAguilar (Colombia), who finished in 51.95 sec.
Earlier, the Cuban sprinter Yunisleidy De La Caridad Garcia earned the gold in women’s 100m, finishing in 11.36 sec. The silver went to Jasmine Abrams (Gyuana) and the bronze was for Michelle-lee Raquel Sean Ahye (Trinidad and Tobago).
Izabela Rodrigues (Brazil) earned the discus throw gold with 59.63m, followed by her compatriot Andressa Oliveira and the Jamaican athlete Samantha Hall.
In the women’s long jump, Natalia Carolina Linares (Colombia) won the title with 6.66m, while the silver went to Eliane Martins (Brazil) with 6.49m and the bronze wen to Tiffany Flynn (USA) with 6.40m.
