Anastasia Potapova is another top-seeded player out of the WTA 250 ATX Open in Austin, USA. The Russian tennis player lost to Katie Volynets (USA) by 1-2 (7:5, 2:6, 5:7) in 2:19 hours.

Anastasia Potapova won the first set, which had 7 breaks for both players. However, in the second set, Katie Volynets started strongly winning the first four games of the set and taking a lead of 4:0, which was enough to win the set by 6:2.

The final set started strongly for Anastasia Potapova who took a lead of 5:0 with two breaks. She even had a breakpoint (matchpoint) in the sixth game, but Katie Volynets saved it and won her service. This was a turning point in the set when the American tennis player won 7 consecutive games and made three breaks to win the match from the first match point.

In the quarter-finals, Katie Volynets will face Peyton Stearns (USA), who defeated Mirjam Bjorklund (Sweden) by 2-0 (6:3, 7:5).

Russian tennis player Varvara Gracheva also advanced to the qarter-finals after eliminating her compatriot nna Blinkova by 2-1 (6:3, 6:7, 6:1). In the next round she will face the fifth-seeded Sloane Stephens (USA), who defeated Heather Watson (UK) by 2-0 (6:4, 6:4).
