The American sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson got involved in another scandal. On Saturday, January 21, she was removed from an American Airlines flight after an argument with a flight attendant. Sha’Carri Richardson posted a series of videos and Instagram stories documenting the incident.
She said a male flight attendant asked her to end a phone call and put her phone on airplane mode. After complying with his instructions, she says the employee put his hands near her face and acted unprofessionally.
Before she was taken off the plane, another passenger approached her and complained that he was going to miss his connecting flight because of her.
“Oh, so you’re worried about a relationship while a grown man disrespects me?”, she replied
American Airlines said in a statement: “We have re-accommodated the customer on a later flight and a member of our team has been in touch to find out more”.
“I’d like to say to my fans, my family and my sponsors, and also to the haters, I’m sorry. As disappointed as I am, I know that when I step on this road, I’m not representing myself, I’m representing a community that has shown me great support, great love”, said Sha’Carri Richardson.
Sha’Carri Richardson is an American track and field sprinter who competes in the 100m and 200m. She rose to fame in 2019 as a freshman at Louisiana State University, running 10.75 sec to break the 100m record at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championships. This winning time made her one of the ten fastest women in history at 19 years old. In April 2021, Sha’Carri Richardson ran a new personal best of 10.72 sec, becoming the tied seventh-fastest woman of all time and the fourth-fastest American woman in history.
