Abby Steiner is an American track and field athlete, who competes in sprint distances. She is the US indoor record holder in the 200m and 300m, and the NCAA record holder in the 200 m. Abby Steiner is a two-time world champion and has personal bests of 10.90 sec over 100m and 21.77 sec over 200m.
Abby Steiner was born on November 24, 1999, in Dublin, Ohio, United States. She started in sports from an early age, but initially turned to soccer. She started to run track in the eighth grade only. Steiner was a dual-sport scholarship athlete at the University of Kentucky (UK), starting her college career in 2018 as both a soccer player and track athlete.
Abby Steiner made her athletics debut in 2015. She took part at the Columbus OH D1 State Meet and Pickerington OH D1 Region 3, winning in total three golds, one silver, and one bronze, at 100m, 200m, and 4x200m relay.
She continue in athletics in 2016, winning the gold at 60m indoor at the Akron OATCCC Championships Div. 1 and Tiffin HS Open #2. She also won the bronze at the Geneva SPIRE Scholastic Showcase.
In the next two seasons, she continues competing locally at the regional divisions and winning the golds at many of them.
In 2019, Abby Steiner competed at the NCAA Div. I Outdoor Championships, winning the bronze at the 4x400m relay.
Abby Steiner won her first NCAA Div. I Indoor Championships gold in 2021. She triumphed at the 200m.
In 2022, she won the gold at NCAA Div. I Indoor Championships in 200m, the silver at 60m, and the bronze in 4x400m. She also made a fantastic performance at the NCAA Div. I Outdoor Championships, winning the gold at 100m and 4x400m, silver at 4x100m, and bronze at 100m. Abby Steiner also won the gold at the World Athletics Championships in Eugene at 4x100m and 4x400m relay. During the season she won the gold at the Toyota USATF Outdoor Championships in 200m.
In 2023, she started the season fantastically, as indoor, she won the gold at the Millrose Games in 300m, while outdoor won the gold at the Miramar Invitational in 100m.
Definitely, Abby Steiner is one of the best American athletes and definitely we will expect to watch her in future champions, including the Diamond League.
