In the co-main event of UFC 259, two-division women’s champion Amanda Nunes puts her featherweight title on the line against Megan Anderson. Both fighters have pretty good skills and the battle was expected with great interest, as the featherweight title was on the table to increase the bet.
Amanda Nunes (21-4-0) quickly gained control of the match versus Megan Anderson (11-5-0), hitting her with a strong right hook in the first punches exchange. This repeated several times with very successful hits by Nunes. Anderson was so hurt, she actually shot a takedown on Nunes, which led to a finish on the ground, where Nunes forced Anderson to tap to an armbar at 2:03 of Round 1.
With the victory, Amanda Nunes defended her 145-pound title for the second time. She is also still in control of the 135-pound bantamweight title.
“The plan was exactly how I finished the fight. I’m here. It’s not my fault. I know there are a lot of girls out there who want this opportunity. Who wants it?”, said Amanda Nunes after the fight.
