Amanda Anisimova defeated Cori “Coco” Gauff and qualified for the fourth round of Wimbledon

The American teenager and world’s No 12 Cori “Coco” Gauff dropped out in the third round of Wimbledon after losing to her compatriot Amanda Anisimova with 1-2 (7:6, 2:6, 1:6).

Coco Gauff, 18, reached the final of Roland Garros this year. The 20-year-old Amanda Anisimova qualified for the fourth round of the third consecutive Grand Slam tournament. Her next opponent is Harmony Tan from France.

“This is the most special day of my career. It’s just a huge privilege to play on this court, I was so excited to play with Coco, she’s an amazing player”, said Amanda Anisimova, who is 20th-seeded.

Amanda Anisimova is currently WTA No 25, and has been ranked in the top 100 since shortly after turning 17 years old. She has won two WTA Tour titles and reached three WTA finals in total.
