Alpine Skiing World Cup starts this weekend

Alpine Skiing world cup

The 57th edition of the Alpine Skiing World Cup starts on October 22-23 in its traditional first race at the Austrian winter center Soelden. The 2022/23 season will end in mid-March next year with the Finals in Soldeu, Andorra.

Olympic gold medalist Mikaela Shiffrin is also a reigning World Cup champion.

The 2022/23 campaign will feature 42 men’s and women’s events across 20 and 21 tracks, respectively.

The women’s calendar includes 11 downhill, 9 Super G, 10 Giant Slalom, 11 Slalom, and 1 Parallel.

For the third consecutive season, there will be no combinations, and it is even possible that such a competition will not be included in the Olympic program for Milan-Cortina d’Ampezzo 2026.

From February 6 to 19 next year, the World Cup will be interrupted for the World Championships in Courchevel-Meribel, France.

After a 20-year absence, the Norwegian winter center Kvitfjell is returning to the women’s calendar. There will also be two additional North American stops in addition to the traditional ones in Lake Lewis and Beaver Creek – Palisades Tahoe and Aspen.
