Ally Ewing won the title of the LPGA Kroger Queen City Championship in Cincinnati after 5 straight birdies. This, her this career win in the LPGA, one in each of the last three years. However, she came into this tournament without a top-10 finish all year.
Ally Ewing played bogey-free on a rain-softened course. She played the last seven holes in five under and scored 5 straight birdies, to end with -22 ahead of the Chinese Xi Yu Lin (-21) and Mexican Maria Fassi (-16).
“The key for me is knowing it’s in there. The change I made a couple of weeks before Canada … this week I saw putts go in. And once I saw them go in, I had confidence”, said Ally Ewing after the win. “I was just a 6-footer but I saw a 6-footer go in”, added she.
Ally Ewing has reached the CME Group Tour Championship for the top 60 players every year since 2017, and this year was looking bleak without a top 10.
