The Budapest 2023 world long jump bronze medalist Alina Rotaru-Kottmann won the Piraeus (Greece) street jump tournament with a season’s world best of 6.94m (1.7m/s). With that result, the ninth from the last Roma European Athletics Championship final also qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympics. She recorded this in her latest sixth attempt. So far this season she has cleared 6.71m and her personal best is 6.96m from 2023.
The second place in the women’s long jump in Piraeus was taken by the Cypriot Filippa Kviten with 6.64m (1.2 m/s), and the third place by Magdalena Bokun (Poland) with 6.55m (1.1 m/s).
Alina Rotaru-Kottmann is the 2009 World Youth Championships and 2010 Summer Youth Olympics silver medalist in the long jump. She finished fifth at the 2012 World Junior Championships, fourth at the 2013 Jeux de la Francophonie and seventh at the 2014 European Championships. She also competed at the 2012 European Championships and the 2013 European Indoor Championships without reaching the final.
