Alexandra Trusova became the first figure skater to perform five quadruple jumps in one composition. She did so in the women’s free program at the Beijing 2022 Olympics. The Russian performed the Quad Flip, Quad Salchow, Quad Toeloop, Quad Lutz with Triple Toeloop. However, she made a small mistake at the end.
Alexandra Trusova was awarded 177.13 points by judges for her free skate program. It earned her the silver medal of the 2022 Olympic Games in the women’s singles program in addition to 74.60 points in the short program on Tuesday.
“I hate this sport. I have everyone! I don’t want to have anything to do with figure skating. This race ruined my life forever”, said Alexandra Trusova after winning the silver medal.
Alexandra Trusova is 17 years old and is a bronze medalist at the World Championships in 2021. The Russian also has two bronze medals from European championships and is a bronze medalist in the Grand Prix final.
Her compatriot Anna Shcherbakova won the gold with 255.95 points, while the bronze went to Japanese Kaori Sakamoto.
“I don’t go to any competitions with the feeling that I am a favorite. I have a desire to skate, I can’t imagine life without figure skating. I have no clear idea how my career will continue”, said Anna Shcherbakova after the competition. She admitted that she still does not know whether she will participate in the next Olympic Games.
“I can’t realize what happened today, I don’t know what will happen tomorrow, how the season will end. I definitely can’t say in advance what will happen in 2026. Now I have achieved a result that athletes consider the pinnacle of sports. I probably really need to realize this and then I will think about my possibilities and desires”, said Anna Shcherbakova. “I want to express special thanks to the Chinese fans. After I came here, I was pleasantly surprised by their support. In the first days, I had an incredible number of followers on Chinese social networks. Everyone wrote, wished me luck. There is so much interest here. Thank you. that you made these games happen. It was difficult for the athletes – the competitions were constantly canceled, we lost the opportunity to show. But we managed to hold the most important race for these four years and I want to say my big thanks for that”, added she.
