Alexa Grasso recorded the biggest win of her career, winning her fight versus Joanne Wood at UFC on ESPN 33 at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio. The Mexican mixed martial artist got her first submission win to smash her opponent already in the first round.

Both fighters traded punches and kicks early in the first round. Alexa Grasso used the tight quarters to sweep the fight to the canvas. She landed short punches on top, but about midway through the round, she let Joanne Wood back to her feet. Alexa Grasso threw a high kick that her opponent caught and used to land a punch.

After more exchanges on the feet, Alexa Grasso used it to land another takedown with 90 seconds left in the round. She worked for a choke and got it with relative ease. With her arm under Joanne Wood’s chin, she had no choice but to tap.

Thus, Alexa Grasso won her first submission win.
