Aleksandra Lisowska won the marathon title at the European Athletics Championships

The Polish athlete Aleksandra Lisowska won the first title at the European Athletics Championships in Munich. The 31-year-old long-distance runner showed her best form and deserved the gold medal in the marathon with a time of 2:28:36.

Lisowska ran in the leading group for most of the race in Munich on Monday, before breaking away after the 40-kilometer mark and steadily increasing her lead, finishing first.

Several female competitors were in contention for silver, which eventually went to Croatian athlete Matea Parlov Kostro in 2:28:42.

The bronze medal in the classic distance went to the representative of the Netherlands, Nienke Brinkman, with 2:28:52 hours.

Aleksandra Lisowska is a Polish long-distance runner. She competed in the women’s half marathon at the 2020 World Athletics Half Marathon Championships held in Gdynia, Poland. In 2011, she competed in the women’s 3000m steeplechase event at the European Athletics U23 Championships held in Ostrava, Czech Republic.
