Aleia Hobbs won the gold at 100m in Lausanne

The much-anticipated 100m clash between the three medalists from the World Championships in Eugene at the Diamond League in Lausanne did not take place. Five-time world 100m champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce was injured in the warm-up and did not start. Elaine Thompson-Hera, the third from the World Athletics Championship and two-time double Olympic sprint champion, was disqualified.

In their absence, the first place in the 100m went to the American Aleia Hobbs with 10.87 sec (0.0 m/sec). The world 200m champion and 100m silver medalist Shericka Jackson (Jamaica) finished second with 10.88 sec, while Marie-Josee Ta Lou (Cote d’Ivoire) was third in 10.89 sec.

Aleia Hobbs is an American professional track and field athlete, who is the 4x400m world champion from 2022 Eugene. She won four national titles in 2018, winning the 60m at the NCAA Division I Indoor Championships, the 100m and the 4×100m relay at the NCAA Division I Championships, and the 100m at the US Championships. She represented the United States at the 2019 World Relays, anchoring the United States to gold. Aleia Hobbs also represented the United States at the 2015 Pan American Junior Championships, where she earned a silver medal in the 100m and a gold medal in the 4×100m relay.
