Sava Thaka is Albanian professional volleyball player, who plays as a Middle-blocker for the Israeli club Maccabi GEOPLAST Tel Aviv and the Albanian national volleyball team. She was awarded the Best middle-blocker at the European Silver League 2018, where her team won the bronze. She is also twice Albanian Superliga champion and Israel Premier League bronze medalist.
Sava Thaka was born on April 20, 1992, in Korce, Albania. She started in volleyball as a kid and showed great skills and abilities in the sport.
Sava Thaka started her professional volleyball career in 2010 for the Albanian club SK Tirana. She stayed in the volleyball club for six seasons, winning plenty of medals locally and internationally. She earned one gold (2012/2013 season), two silver (2010/2011 and 2014/2015 seasons) and one bronze (2011/2012 season) medals at the Albanian Superliga, as well as two gold (2011/2012 and 2012/2013 seasons), three silver (2010/2011, 2013/2014, and 2014/2015 seasons), and one bronze (2015/2016) medals at the Albanian Cup. Meanwhile, Sava Thaka played also at the CEV Cup, Challenge Cup. She was also called for the Albanian volleyball national team to play at the European World Championship Qualification in 2014 and the European Golden League in 2016.
In 2016, Sava Thaka signed with Poland’s volleyball club KSZO SMS Ostrowiec Swietokrzyski to play in the TAURON Liga, where finished 13th in her only season with the club. At the Polish Cup, her team finished 9th. Meanwhile, she was called for the national team to play at the European Golden League 2017, finishing 9th.
In 2017, Sava Thaka moved to Slovakia to sign with VK Spisska Nova Ves. In the 2017/2018 season, her team finished 8th at the Slovakian Extraliga, while with the national team, she played at the Mediterranean Games 2018, where finished 9th, and European Silver League 2018, where she reached her biggest success, winning the bronze.
Sava Thaka returned to Albania in 2018, signing with the local champion Partizani. In the only season she stayed with the club, they won the Albanian Cup and Albanian Superliga, as well as the silver at the Albanian FSHV. In the second part of the season, she played for the Polish team WTS KDBS Wloclawek.
In 2019, Sava Thaka signed with the Israeli volleyball club Maccabi Ashdod and started her career in the country. She earned the bronze at the Israel Premier League in the 2019/2020 season.
In 2021, she moved to Maccabi Nazareth and her team finished 10th in the Israel Premier League and 5th in the Women’s Israeli Cup.
In 2022, Sava Thaka signed to her current club Maccabi GEOPLAST Tel Aviv.
