The winner of the women’s Ballon d’Or for 2024 – Aitana Bonmati, talks about the distinction with which she was awarded. She was unequivocal when asked what else she could win, mentioning that she is only 26 years old and her career has yet to develop.

“To keep winning, to keep improving and I’m trying in every way to move forward with the same mentality. I am 26 years old and I still have to develop to win more trophies. I had a great year. The successes were both at the collective level and at the individual level. I can thank Barcelona and Spain for allowing me to be where I am”, said Aitana Bonmati after receiving the trophy.

Of course, the athlete received several feminist questions about her opinion on women’s integration in football.

“The truth is that it is very beautiful to start playing with your favorite t-shirt on the street. Many things are changing. Doors are opening for the girls we see fighting for the world of soccer to be in it and achieve their dreams. I take this opportunity to tell them to keep fighting”, added Aitana Bonmati.

Finally, the soccer player also talked about the great Spanish successes in the past year. Real Madrid won the men’s Champions League, Barcelona did the same, and Spain’s men’s and women’s national teams triumphed at one World Cup and one European Championship.

“I don’t know if it is the best moment in the history of Spain, but it is exceptional. We are currently in one of the first places in the world. I’m also happy for Rhodri. It is not only important that we won the trophy, but also how we did it. I hope this mentality of winners will continue to bring us success”, added Bonmati.
