Lucia Fresco is an Argentine volleyball player, who plays as an Opposite for the Belgian volleyball club E.S. Charleroi Volley. She is a three times South American Championships silver medalist, Pan American Games bronze medalist, as well as twice Pan American Cup bronze medalist. She was awarded Best Opposite at the Pan American Games 2019.
Lucia Daniela Fresco was born on May 14, 1991, in Chajarí, Argentina. She started in volleyball at an early age and played for her local Club Santa Rosa Chajarí, where proved her skills and showed great abilities.
Lucia Fresco started her professional career with the senior team of Club Santa Rosa Chajarí in the 2005/2006 season, playing as a reserve at the Argentinian Liga A1. She was also called for Argentina women’s U18 and U20 national teams, to play at the South American Championship U18 and Women South American Championship U20, winning bronze and silver, respectively.
In the 2007/2008 season, she played for a while for Independiente Monte Hermoso in Argentinian Liga A1, before signing with Boca Juniors in 2008 for three seasons. In her maiden season with Boca Juniors, she won the silver at the Argentinian Liga A1, as well as the bronze at the South American Club Championship. During the season, Lucia Fresco was called for the senior Argentina women’s national team and won the silver at the South American Championships 2009 and also played at the Pan American Cup 2009. During the 2009/2010 season, Lucia Fresco and Boca Juniors again finished as runner-up at Argentinian Liga A1, while with the national team she won the silver at the South American Games 2010. In the 2010/2011 season, she finally won the title at the Argentinian Liga A1 and was awarded as the Best scorer and the MVP of the league. With the national team, she won the silver at the South American Championships 2011 and played at the FIVB World Cup 2011.
In 2011, Lucia Fresco signed with SC Potsdam to play in the German Bundesliga. She stayed for three seasons with the club but finished out of the Top 5 in the local championships. However, with the national team, she won the bronze at the Pan-American Cup U23 2012, where was awarded the Best scorer, and Pan American Cup 2013, as well as silver at the South American Championships 2013. She played also at the World Championships 2014.
Lucia Fresco signed with the Italian volleyball club Zeta System Urbino Volley in 2014 to play in the Italian Serie A1. In her only season with the club, they finished 12in the league, but during the season she made fantastic games for the Argentinian national team, winning the bronze at the Pan American Cup 2015 and finishing 8th at the FIVB World Cup 2015.
In 2015, Lucia Fresco signed with the Italian Serie A2 club – Volley Soverato. Without making some significant achievements with the team, the season was remarkable for her, as she was part of the Argentinian national team squad to play in the Rio 2016 Olympics, where finished 9th.
In 2016, she signed with the Greek club AON Pannaxiakos. During her only season with the club, was the runner-up at the Greek A1 Etniki and Greek Cup, as well as played at the Challenge Cup.
Lucia Fresco signed with the Hungarian champion Bekescsabai Roplabda SE in 2017. During the season 2017/2018 with her in the squad, they won the Hungarian Extraliga and were the runner-up at the Hungarian Cup. With the club, she won the gold at MEVZA Cup, where was awarded the Best Opposite and played in the Champions League and CEV Cup.
In 2018, Lucia Fresco returned to Argentina and her club Boca Juniors, winning the titles at the Torneo Metropolitano Femenino de Voley and Argentinian Liga A1, as well as finishing 4th in the South American Club Championship. With the Argentina national team, she won the bronze at the FIVB Challenger Cup and Pan American Games.
Lucia Fresco played for two seasons in South Korea, where was part of the team Incheon Heungkuk Life Pink Spiders, winning the silver at the Korean V-League and KOVO Cup in 2020/2021.
In 2021, she returned back to Boca Juniors for one season, winning again Argentinian Liga A1 and Copa Metropolitana.
In 2022, Lucia Fresco moved to Belgium to play for E.S. Charleroi Volley in the Belgian Liga A.
