The story for Emma Raducanu continues as she qualified for the semi-finals of the US Open after beating the Tokyo 2020 Olympics champion Belinda Bencic with 2-0 (6:3, 6:4). The British teenager, who is actually only the third qualified to reach the semi-finals of the US Open, needed less than an hour and a half to get the win.
The successful service, combined with 23 winners and fewer unforced errors than her opponent, ensured the win for the British player.
The match started with domination for Belinda Bencic, who broke the service of Emma Raducanu already in the first game and had an advantage since the middle of the first set. However, the British player returned the break and won four consecutive games to win the first set with 6:3.
The second set started equally, but Emma Raducanu needed to save three break points in the second game to avoid the break. However, in the fifth game, she succeeded to break the service of Belinda Bencic and got an advantage of 3:2, which she defended with winning her service game and making the result 4:2.
