Liudmila Samsonova qualified for the quarter-finals of the WTA 250 Bad Homburg Open

The second-seeded Liudmila Samsonova qualified for the quarter-finals of the WTA 250 Bad Homburg Open after defeating Linda Noskova (Czech Republic) by 2-1 (6:4, 6:7, 6:3) in 2:39 hours of player. The Russian tennis played showed better form than her opponent and prevailed with more power in the final third set.

The match started equally and both players won their serve games. Liudmila Samsonova was first that needed to save breakpoint in the 4th game, but she succeeded to save three. In the 5th game of the set, the Russian player broke her opponent and took an important lead. Then, she closed the next game on zero and missed four breakpoints to register another break. However, Liudmila Samsonova closed the set at 6:4.

The second set was quite more contested. Both players exchanged two break in the beginning and none of them took a lead. Thus, set entered into a tiebreak, in which Linda Noskova took a lead of 6-2 and despite missing 3 setpoints, finally closed it after 7-4.

In the third set, Liudmila Samsonova started playing more accurately and took a lead of 3:1 after a break. Linda Noskova returned the break in the 7th game, but Liudmila Samsonova immediately take again the advantage, which proved to be enough for her to close the set at 6:3 and win the match after more than two hours and half of play.

In the quarter-finals, Liudmila Samsonova will face the winner between Katerina Siniakova (Czech republic) and Evgeniya Rodina (Russia).

In the other matches from the day, Emma Navarro (USA) defeated Alize Cornet (France) by 2-0 (7:5, 7:6) and in the quarter-finals will face Rebeka Masarova (Spain), who eliminated Bianca Vanessa Andreescu (Canada) after 2-0 (6:3, 6:2).

Varvara Gracheva (Russia) also advanced to the next round after defeating Sara Errani (Italy) by 2-0 (6:2, 7:5).
