The second round of the US Open women’s tennis championship offered almost no surprises. The world No 1 Ashleigh Barty of Australia easily defeated Clara Tauson with 2-0 (6:1, 7:5). The match between the two lasted exactly an hour and a half, and the favorite needed 5 breaks for the final success.

In the third round, Ashleigh Barty will face the American Shelby Rogers, who won by 2-0 (7:5, 6:2) versus the Romanian Sorana Cîrstea.

For the placed Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova it was not a problem to cope, albeit in three sets, with the Slovak Anna Karolina Schmiedlova – 6:2, 5:7, 6:2. Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova will face in the third round with her compatriot Varvara Gracheva, who eliminated the 24th-seeded Spaniard Paula Badosa with 2-0 (6:4, 6:4).
