The women’s volleyball League of Nations debutant Croatia recorded their second success in the competition. The Ferhat Akbas-led team defeated Thailand by 3-0 (25:17, 25:21, 25:20) in a Group 4 match played in Hong Kong.
The top scorer for Croatia was Andrea Mihaljevic with 19 points (2 blocks), captain Martina Samadan finished with 14 points (1 ace, 3 blocks). Laura Milos added 10 points (1 ace).
For the opponent, Chatchu-on Moksri scored 19 points (3 blocks), Ajcharaporn Kongyot added 14 points (1 ace).
Next week, Croatia faces Canada, the Netherlands, Italy and Turkey.
The Croatians are 14th in the standings with 6 points (2 wins, 6 losses), overtaking the Bulgarian team, which is already 15th (with 5 points from 1 win and 7 losses).
The Bulgarian volleyball team will be looking for a must win against Korea Republic next week to stay in the Volleyball League of Nations. The Asian women are 13th with 8 points (2 wins, 6 losses). The Netherlands has the same score, but with a better game ratio.
