Polish tennis player Iga Swiatek continued her dominance on the clay courts after winning a third Roland Garros title in the last four years. She had to put in a lot of effort against 26-year-old Karolína Muchova (Czech Republic) to defeated her by 2-1 (6:2, 5:7, 6:4) in nearly three hours of play. After the match, Iga Swiatek thanked for the support and said that she will become an even better competitor.
“Thanks to my team, you won this tournament. Thanks to my family too. And to the people from Poland who came to support me. I’m sure next year will be even better. I can already tell you how much it was a tough tournament. I love playing in Paris, but it’s not easy because the two-week competitions require a lot of concentration and a different set-up”, commented the champion.
Iga Swiatek is currently ranked world No 1 in singles by the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA). She has 8940 points, ahead of the second Aryna Sabalenka (Belarus) with 8012 points and the third Elena Rybakina (Kazakhstan) with 5090 points.
Iga Swiatek is a four-time major singles champion, having won the French Open in 2020, 2022 and 2023 and the US Open in 2022. She is the first player representing Poland to win a major singles title. She has won a total of 14 WTA Tour-level titles.
During her French Open title run in 2020, Iga Swiatek did not lose more than five games in any singles match.
