The world’s tennis number one Iga Swiatek triumphed for the second consecutive year at the Roland Garros, as well as for the third overall in the French Open, and for the fourth in a Grand Slam tournament.
In the final in the French capital, she prevailed in a nearly three-hour duel with Karolína Muchova by 2-1 (6:2, 5:7, 6:4). She was very excited at the award ceremony and even apologized to her team for being unbearable at times because there were many tense situations during the match where she even shouted at them.
“Thank you all. And in our previous match, I knew it would be very difficult against you because you are a great tennis player. I was really impressed and very troubled by your large arsenal of punches”, said Iga Swiatek. “Congratulations to your team, because I know how difficult it is to maintain a high level on tour for so many weeks without a break. Thanks to my team and I’m sorry to be unbearable sometimes, but it’s really not easy with so many weeks of tournaments in a row. Thank you to the Polish fans and thank you to everyone associated with this tournament, because this is my favorite place to play tennis. It’s always a pleasure to be back here in Paris. I also thank all the Polish fans who did not stop supporting me”, said also the excited Polish tennis player.
