Brazilian tennis player Beatriz Haddad Maia was in good mood despite losing by 0-2 (2:6, 6:7) to Iga Swiatek in the semi-finals of the French Open.
The 27-year-old tennis player, who has never passed the second round of a Grand Slam, became the first Brazilian in 55 years to reach a Grand Slam’s semi-final after beating world number seven Ons Jabur in the quarter-finals.
“My first goal was to reach the third round and I exceeded it”, said Beatriz Haddad Maia “We worked very hard and me and my team should be very proud of ourselves because it’s not easy to play a Grand Slam semi-final. I was a bit more emotional at the start of the match. Playing a semi-final for the first time against the world No 1, with a lot of Brazilians in the stands, I couldn’t be very disciplined and concentrated in the things I had to do on the court, but I gave my best”, added she.
