Olivia Matzer was born on February 23, 2003, in Queensland, Australia. She started in athletics at an early age and showed her talent at school and junior championships. She won the bronze at the 2019 Queensland All School Championships in 100m.
Olivia Matzer started her competitive career already in 2018, winning bronze at the Brisbane UQ Sport Spring Series and gold at the Brisbane Benita Willis Shield in 100m, as well as gold at the Brisbane Alana Boyd Shield in 200m. The same year, she debuted at the Brisbane Queensland All Schools Championships, reaching the finals at both disciplines 100m and 200m, finishing 7th in both finals.
In 2019, Olivia Matzer competed again at the Queensland All School Championships, winning the bronze at 100m and finishing 5th in the 200m final. During the season she won the silver at the Carlee Beattie Shield in 100m.
Olivia Matzer continue competing locally in 2020 and improved her results. In 100m, she won the gold at the Queensland U18 Championships and Queensland Athletics Girls All Schools Championships, as well as silver at the North Queensland Championships. In 2021, Olivia Matzer finished 4th at the Australian U20 Championships in both 100m and 200m. She also competed at the Australian Championships in 100m, but remained out of the finals. Olivia Matzer also took part at the Oceania Invitational 1 and 2 in 100m, finishing 2nd and 5th, respectively. At the junior events, she continues winning honors, earning gold at the Queensland U20 Championships in 100m and 200m.
Olivia Matzer won the bronze at the 2022 AACT Championships in 100m, which was one of the best achievements she has reached so far. She was very close to winning a medal at the Melbourne Track Classic in 100m but remained 4th. At the Australian Championships, for the second consecutive year, she remained out of the finals.
