The reigning 200m world champion Shericka Jackson won the gold at the Diamond League in Rabat (Morocco). The Jamaican athlete won the race with 21.98 sec (0.8 m/sec), setting a new tournament best.
Although Shericka Jackson didn’t have the fastest start, she displayed exceptional speed and control in the second half of the race, ultimately securing the victory and surpassing her previous season best of 22.25 sec.
The Bahamian athlete Anthonique Strachan clocked a personal best of 22.15 sec for the silver. Prior to her exceptional performance on Sunday, Strachan’s lifetime best stood at 22.32 sec.
Tamari Davis (USA) finished third with a personal best of 22.30 sec, while Kayla White (USA) and Bassant Hemida (Egypt) remained on 4th and 5th.
Shericka Jackson is a Jamaican sprinter competing in the 100m, 200m, and 400m. In 2022, she became the fastest woman alive and second fastest woman of all time in the 200m. At the 2022 Oregon World Championships, she won a silver for the 100 m, gold in the 200 m setting national record, and a silver for the 4×100 m relay. She was the 2022 Diamond League 200m champion.
