Camila Giorgi won the first set after total 6 breaks (4-2 in her favor) and the second set after total of 5 breaks (3-2 in her favor). Thus, she won the match and will face the 3rd-seeded Jessica Pegula (USA), who defeated her compatriot Danielle Collins by 2-0 (6:4, 6:2).
Leolia Jeanjean (France) also advanced to the second round, defeating Kimberly Birrell (Australia) by 2-1 (6:4, 6:7, 6:3), as well as Qinwen Zheng (China), who eliminated Tamara Zidansek (Slovenia) by 2-0 (6:3, 6:1).
The 9th-seeded Daria Kasatkina (Russia) also advanced to the second round after defeating Jule Niemeier (Germany) by 2-0 (6:3, 6:4). The young Denmark’s talent Clara Tauson defeated Aliaksandra Sasnovich (Belarus) by 2-0 (6:2, 6:0), while Mayar Sherif (Egypt) eliminated Madison Brengle (USA) by 2-0 (6:3, 6:1) and Irina-Camelia Begu (Romania) eliminated Anna Bondar (Hungary) by 2-0 (6:4, 6:2).
Italian tennis player Sara Errani also advanced to the next round after defeating Jil Teichmann (Switzerland) by 2-1 (3:6, 6:4, 6:2).
