The world champion in the hammer throw Brooke Andersen became the third athlete in history, who crossed the 80-meter limit in the discipline. She won at the USATF Throws Festival, a World Athletics Continental Tour Silver meeting, in Tucson, USA, by 80.17m.
The 27-year-old American athlete, who had so far had a personal best of 79.8 m, climbed to No 3 in the world rankings. Before her, the only planetary record holder Anita Wlodarczyk with 82.98m from 2016 and DeAnna Price with 80.31m from 2021.
Brooke Andersen won the USATF Throws Festival in Tucson by more than three-and-a-half meters, where Janee’ Kassanavoid threw 76.60m for the runner-up spot and Annette Echikunwoke recorded 75.00m for third.
