Ottavia Cestonaro is an Italian long-jumper and triple-jumper athlete. She is a silver medalist at the 2018 Mediterranean Games in Tarragona, a gold medalist at the 2013 European Junior Championships in Rieti, as well as a two-time medalist at the Mediterranean U23 Games in Tunis 2016 and Aubagne 2014. Ottavia Cestonaro was born on January 12, 1995 in Vicenza, Italy. She started in athletics at an early age and quickly showed her talent. In 2009, she won her first Italian youth title at the national category championships in the triple jump and silver in the 4x100m relay. Since her youth career, Ottavia Cestonaro was one of the top athletes in Italy.
In 2011, Ottavia Cestonaro made her international debut at the international U20 indoor match between Germany, Italy, and France, held in Hamburg, Germany. Later the same season, at the World Championships in Lille, France, she finished seventh in the long jump and did not qualify for the triple-jump final.
In 2016 she continue winning medalist at the Italian Championships, capturing the indoor triple jump title, long jump, and combined events. In June of the same year, she competed at the Mediterranean U23 Games held in Tunisia where she won two medals, silver in the triple jump and bronze in the long jump.
During the 2017 national indoor competitive season, Ottavia Cestonaro has already made a plethora of Italian titles, winning four out of four, in the space of a week between January and February: first, the absolute-promises pairing in the Pentathlon at the Padova Italian Indoor Combined Events Championships and then the triple and long jump titles at the Ancona Italian U23 Indoor Championships. In June at the Italian junior championships in Florence, she won another double of youth titles, winning both in the long jump and in the triple jump. After less than a week, she participates in the national university championships in which she becomes champion in the triple jump and wins the bronze in the 4x100m relay. During the season she competed at the Trieste Italian Championships, winning the silver in the triple jump, the Bydgoszcz European U23 Championships, finishing close to the medals zone, and the Universiade in Taipei.
Ottavia Cestonaro won her first Italian Indoor Championships title in the triple jump in 2018, jumping 13.47m, only 11 cm ahead of Dariya Derkach, which is her personal indoor best in the discipline. Later same season she improved her outdoor personal best during the Athina Kallithea Jumps Gala, jumping 13.97m. In June, Ottavia Cestonaro won the Modena Italian Club Championships with 14.06m in the triple jump and 6.10m in the long jump. At the end of the month debuted at the Tarragona Mediterranean Games, winning the silver in the triple jump with 14.05m. In September, she made another great achievement, winning the gold in the triple jump at the Pescara Italian Championships.
In 2019, Ottavia Cestonaro won the silver at the Italian Indoor Championships, the bronze at the European Athletics Team Championships, and the silver at the CISM Military World Games Wuhan in the triple jump, as well as the bronze at the Resisprint International and gold at the Italian Championships again in the triple jump. She competed also at the Universiade in Napoli and the IAAF World Championships in Athletics in Doha.
Ottavia Cestonaro started the 2020 season with a silver at the Italian Indoor Championships and continue with silver in the outdoor Italian Championships in the triple jump.
In 2021, she competed at the World Athletics Indoor Tour in the Villa de Madrid event, finishing 7th with a 13.58m achievement in the triple jump. She also took part in the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Torun but did not qualify for the finals. However, Ottavia Cestonaro won the silver at the Italian Indoor Championships with 13.76m in the triple jump. During the outdoor season, she won silver at the Italian Championships with 14.09m and silver at the Venizelia event in Greece. She also won gold at the 8. Memorial Iztoka Ciglariča v teku na 1500 m in Slovenia, silver at the Meeting Internazionale ATL-Etica in Italy, and bronze at the Meeting Citta’ di Conegliano in Italy. Ottavia Cestonaro competed at the prestigious Palio Citta della Quercia in Italy, Meeting Citta di Padova in Italy, and Memorial Borisa Hanzekovica in Criatia, but without winning medals.
Ottavia Cestonaro started the 2022 season perfectly, winning the bronze at the World Indoor Tour Madrid 2022 and silver at the Italian Indoor Championships in the triple jump. During the outdoor season, she won the gold at the Poznan Athletics Grand Prix and the silver at the Italian Championships in the triple jump, as well as the gold at the XXV Meeting Internazionale Citta di Nembro in the long jump. Competed at the World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon, and the European Athletics Championships in Minich.
Ottavia Cestonaro continues winning medals in Italy in 2023, after finishing second in the Italian Indoor Championships in the long jump and the triple jump. But also made some great achievements internationally, winning the silver at the Czech Indoor Gala 2023 and the gold at the Aarhus SPRINT’n’JUMP in Denmark. She also competed at the World Indoor Tour Madrid 2023 and European Athletics Indoor Championships in Istanbul but remained 4th in both, just a step from the medals.
