Aryna Sabalenka thought she played her best match to date in Madrid as she beat Maria Sakkari by 2-0 (6:4, 6:1) to reach the WTA 1000 Madrid Open final. The 24-year-old tennis player from Belarus won nine of the last 11 games, including the last five, to close the match in confidence.
“I actually played my best match of the tournament”, said Aryna Sabalenka. “Right now I’m super happy with the level I’ve been playing at. Especially from the way I coped psychologically”, added she.
In the final in the Spanish capital, she will play with Iga Swiatek, who defeated Veronika Kudermetova, in a repeat of the final at the WTA 500 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix In Stuttgart last month.
Since the beginning of the season, Aryna Sabalenka plays her 5th final, so for won two (Australian Open and WTA 500 Adelaide International) and lost two (WTA 1000 Indian Wells Open and WTA 500 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix In Stuttgart).
