The women’s national team of Turkey qualified without any problems for the quarterfinals of Eurovolley 2021 in Plovdiv. The girls of Giovanni Guidetti gave only a game and prevailed over the Czech Republic with 3-1 (25:13, 22:25, 25:14, 25:13) in the match played tonight in front of about 2,000 spectators in Kolodrum Arena.
Thus, the Turks continue to advance to the quarterfinals, where they expect the team of Poland, which also beat Ukraine with a 3-1 in Plovdiv. The match of the quarterfinals between Turkey and Poland will be on Tuesday (August 31st).
The alumni of Giovanni Guidetti were more than categorical in the first part – 25:13, after which they allowed fluctuations in the second game, which they lost with 22:25. Subsequently, they found their rhythm again and did not allow more resistance – 25:14 and 25:13 for the final 3-1.
Above all for Turkey was Hande Baladin with 19 points (3 blocks, 55% efficiency in attack) for the victory. Tugba Senoglu (5 aces, 2 blocks, 60% efficiency in attack) and Ebrar Karakurt (1 block, 1 ace and 57% efficiency in attack) added 16 and 15 points for success.
For the Czech team, Gabriela Orvosova finished with 10 points (1 ace and 38% efficiency in attack), and three players finished with 7 each – Veronika Trnkova, Michaela Mlejnkova and Pavlína Simanova.
