Vera Cruz smashed Catanduva by 87-67 at Brazil Women Basketball League LBF. The match was opening from the Brazilian Women basketball championship, hosted by Vera Cruz.
Despite the home advantage, the players of Vera Cruz started hesitantly the match and lost the initiative. After an exchange of points, Catanduva advanced to 7-13, but at the last minutes of the first part, the women of Vera Cruz stabilized and overturned the result. In the end, the first quarter ended with an advance for Vera Cruz of 18-14.
The second quarter started with the strong pressure of the hosts. They increased the advance to 7 points at 23-16 and kept the same difference for most of the part. In the final minutes, Vera Cruz again raised speed and finished the quarter with 12 pts advance at 39-27.
Catanduva tried to return the match at the beginning of the third quarter, but the power was not enough and maximum reduced the difference to 7 points until their opponents did not force again and made result to 52-36 in the middle of the part. The third quarter ended at 62-50 and the match seemed like a sure win for the hosts.
The basketball players of Catanduva did not stand psychologically through the fourth quarter and just waited for the end of the match. Vera Cruz increased the advance to 18-22 points and finally, the match ended 87-67.
One of the most effective players of Vera Cruz was captain Barbara Honorio, as well as the point guard Tassia Carcavalli.
