Women’s world number one Iga Swiatek defeated world’s number two Aryna Sabalenka by 2-0 (6:3, 6:4) and won her second consecutive title at the WTA 500 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix In Stuttgart.
Last year’s final also opposed the two tennis players against each other, and Iga Swiatek already has 13 singles titles in her career. She, of course, remains undefeated on clay in the German city, and has lost only 3 of her 16 WTA finals so far.
Iga Swiatek already leads with 5-2 wins against Aryna Sabalenka, and since the start of the 2023 season, she has already won 20 matches. The women’s world number one also has two titles this campaign and is equal with Aryna Sabalenka and Belinda Bencic on that tally.
For the first time since 2018, the world No 1 and No 2 meet in the final, as Simona Halep and Caroline Wozniacki did it five seasons ago. On clay, such a thing happened ten years ago, when Serena Williams beat Maria Sharapova played in the final of Roland Garros.
