Barbora Krejcikova upset Svetlana Kuznetsova at WTA 1000 Dubai Tennis Championships

The 35-year-old Russian Svetlana Kuznetsova was eliminated by Barbora Krejcikova at the Round of 16 of WTA 1000 Dubai Tennis Championships. The match lasted a little more than an hour and ended 2-0 (6:3; 6:4).

Svetlana Kuznetsova is currently ranked 41 in the World. Barbora Krejcikova is currently ranked 63 in the World. However, the Russian tennis player surprised in the first round after eliminating top-seeded Elina Svitolina, but her impetus was stopped by the 25-year-old Czech Barbora Krejcikova.

Barbora Krejcikova breaks Svetlana Kuznetsova’s serve already in the 4th game of the first set and took advantage of 3-1, which she kept by the end and won by 6:3. The second set started with a serve of the Russian player, which Barbora Krejcikova broke and took another strong start, which kept by the end of the set and won by 6:4.

The 25-year-old Czech Barbora Krejcikova is not much successful on single, reaching the highest-ranking of No 59 on February 8, 2021. She does not have WTA titles and her best Grand Slam result is the 4th round of the French Open in 2020. However, on doubles together with Czech compatriot Katerina Siniakova, she won the 2018 French Open and 2018 Wimbledon Championships. On October 22, 2018, she reached No 1 in the doubles rankings, jointly with Katerina Siniakova.
