Karolina Pliskova, who was ranked No 2 in the tournament, lost the first set without even giving any resistance to her opponent. In the second set, she got a small advantage of 2-1, but after 5 consecutive winning games, Jessica Pegula triumphed and qualified for the next quarter-finals of the WTA 1000 Dubai Tennis Championships.
Karolina Pliskova is the next top-seeded victim of the championship after Elina Svitolina, Petra Kvitova, and Marketa Vondrousova.
The 27-year-old American tennis player Jessica Pegula has a career-high WTA singles ranking of world No 36 after reaching the quarter-finals of the Australian Open 2021. She has won one WTA title at Washington Open in 2019.
