Britain’s tennis talent Harriet Dart is out of the Canadian Open after losing to defending champion Bianca Andreescu in the second round. The Canadian won by 2-1 (6:1, 3:6, 6:3) in a match that lasted 109 minutes.
The 25-year-old Harriet Dart struggled to defend her serve against the Canadian world number eight, and was broken five times.
The first set started with exchange of breaks, but the nerves of Bianca Andreescu were stronger and she took advantage 3:1. In the 6th game, she made another break and won the set by 6:1.
The second set was quite more equal and Britain’s tennis talent Harriet Dart took a lead of 4:1 after breaking the service game of the Canadian. She kept the advantage by the end of the set and won by 6:3.
The third set started good for Harriet Dart, as she registered a break already in the third game and had a lead. However, she failed to defend it and the result became 2:2. After exchange for some service games, Bianca Andreescu succeeded to break the British again and won the set with 6:3. Thus the match went 2-1.
Bianca Andreescu made a total of 35 winners helped ensure her place in the last 16. In the round of 8, she will face the winner between Ons Jabeur (Tunisia) and Daria Kasatkina (Russia).
