In her first race of the summer season, American athlete Masai Russell improved her personal best and set a new college record in the 100m hurdles after winning in Austin in 12.36 sec. The 22-year-old athlete also had a strong winter season in which she clocked 7.75 sec in the 60m hurdles.
In the series, Masai Russell runs at 12.61 sec with a stronger headwind than the permissible values, and in the final, she corrected her personal best to 12.36 sec (2.0 m/sec). With this achievement, she came to eighth place in the all-time American ranking of the discipline.
Bahamian Terrence Jones achieved a personal best in the 200m, taking the distance in 20.05 sec. The Olympic bronze medalist Gabby Thomas prevailed in the women’s 200m with 22.46 sec.
Olympic champion Valarie Allman kicked off the summer season with a world No 1 mark of 67.90m for her discus throw victory.
