Faith Chepngetich Kipyegon of Kenya won Olympic gold in the women’s 1,500m at the Tokyo 2020 Games. So she defended her title from Rio 2016 and is also the World Champion from London 2017.
The 27-year-old Kenyan made a strong last lap and managed to break away from the others, crossing the finish line with an Olympic record of 3:53.11 minutes.
The second was the representative of Great Britain Laura Muir. She scored 3:54.50 minutes.
The bronze medal is for the Dutch Sifan Hassan with 3:55.86 minutes, who is the current world champion in the discipline. Sifan Hassan triumphed with gold in the 5,000m in Tokyo. The Dutchwoman will also compete in the 10,000 meters final.
