Swedish cross-country skier Ebba Andersson won the gold medal in the women’s skiathlon at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Planica (Slovenia). This is Anderson’s first individual gold medal at a major event.
She previously won silver and gold at the 2018 and 2022 Olympics, as well as world championship all-around medals and gold in the relay. The Swedish cross-country skier overcame a fall on the course and managed to win the women’s skiathlon (2×7.5 km) with a time of 38:11.8 min.
Her compatriot Frida Karlsson was second, 22 sec behind, and the top three was completed by Norwegian Astrid Oyre Slind, 48 sec behind the winner.
Ebba Andersson and CaFrida Karlsson broke away in the last part of the classic, then picked up the pace in the first half of the freestyle, with Andersson able to win the race, although he fell on one of the descents.
