Keely Hodgkinson set a new British record in the women’s 800m at the World Indoor Tour Finals in Birmingham today.
European indoor 800m champion Keely Hodgkinson set the record in the discipline with 1:57.18 min, which is also a new best result in the world for the season. Australian athlete Catriona Bisset finished second with 1:59.83 min, and British runner, Isabelle Boffey, came third with 2:00.25 min.
Keely Hodgkinson is an English athlete specializing in the 800m. At the age of 19, she won the silver medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, breaking the British record. She is the 2022 World Championships and 2022 Commonwealth Games silver medallist, 2022 European champion, and the youngest ever European women’s indoor 800m champion from Toruń 2021.
Meanwhile, the Scottish long-distance runner Laura Muir won the 1,000m but fell short in her world record attack. She crossed the finish line first in 2:34.53 min. Claudia Mihaela Bobocea improved Romania’s record for second place with 2:35.35 min, and Poland’s Sofia Ennaoui completed the top three with 2:35.69 min.
