The women’s volleyball team of Fenerbahce Opet started its participation in the playoffs of the Champions League with dramatic success. The Zoran Terzic-led team defeated Chemik Police by 3-2 (25:14, 29:27, 25:23, 22:25, 15:10) in the first match played in Szczecin in front of 1,652 spectators.
The second match is scheduled for March 2 (Thursday), in Istanbul.
The top scorer was Melissa Vargas with 26 points (1 ace, 2 blocks, 59% offensive efficiency), while Arina Fedorovtseva finished with 25 points (6 aces, 1 block). Bulgarian volleyball player Hristina Vuchkova played strongly and scored 12 points (2 aces, 3 blocks, 54% attack efficiency).
For Chemik Police, Jovana Brakocevic scored 20 points (3 blocks), while Agnieszka Kakolewska finished with 13 points (3 blocks).
The winner of the match will face Imoco Volley Conegliano in the quarter-finals.
